Best friends and showgirls Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw are both after a man to marry. Lorelei believes, that marrying a man should be due to his wealth, especially to maintain her passion for diamonds. Dorothy believes, marrying a man should be down to his looks and fitness. They board a ship for France crossing the Altanic and on their journey meet different characters that make them rethink their views on the position of marriage.
